Gender-recognition Campaigns

There is currently an Early Day Motion (EDM) submitted to the UK parliament calling for legal recognition of people who do not identify into the gender binary. The more signatures it receives from MPs, the more likely it is to be debated. You can write to your MP to encourage them to support EDM 47. Their contact details are available here.

Vacancies at LGBT Youth Scotland

Our friends at LGBT Youth Scotland are currently recruiting for the following three positions (click on the job title to see a full description). Trans, non-binary and intersex folk are all strongly encouraged to apply.

Youth and Community Development Officer (Scottish Borders)

£23-697 – £26,235 pro rata, 21hrs per week. Fixed Term to 31st March 2016, funding dependent thereafter.

Are you able to inspire and lead a team to deliver high quality services to LGBT young people in the Scottish Borders? Are you passionate about supporting young people and developing communities? Are you skilled, motivated and reliable? You could be the new LGBT Youth Scotland Youth & Community Development Officer working to:

  • Delivery our youth work projects in the area
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Develop the service within schools and the community

Interview Date: Friday 13th February 2015

Sessional Youth Worker Groups and Outreach (Edinburgh)

£9.54 to £10.59 per hour dependent on experience, average of 3hrs per week.

We are looking for an experienced youth worker to support the delivery of our LGBT thematic youth work across the Lothians and to help to deliver our outreach programme. This work will include supporting our youth groups, and outreach. Do you have a good understanding of LGBT identities and inclusion, youth participation and community engagement? Are you creative in the design and delivery of programmes? Can you provide goal orientated support for young people? Are you confident speaking to new people?

Interview Date: Tuesday 3rd February 2015

Beyond Gender Sessional Youth Worker (Edinburgh)

£9.54 to £10.59 per hour dependent on experience, average of 3hrs per week.

We are looking for an experienced youth worker to support the delivery of our Tuesday Transgender youth group called Beyond Gender for trans*, non-binary and intersex young people aged 13-25. Do you have a good understanding of trans* identities and inclusion, youth participation and community engagement? Are you creative in the design and delivery of programmes? Can you provide goal orientated support for young people?

Interview date: Tuesday 3rd February 2015

New Glasgow community group emerging for trans-women and trans-feminine people aged 20-35

A new group is being started in the Glasgow area, tentatively called Trans-Sisters. The group would be for trans-women and trans-feminine people in the 20-35 age group. If you’re interested, please contact Eilidh at trans-sisters@hotmail.com.
