LGBT Theatre

Edinburghs new theatre company Paradoxical Ink presents: SNAPSHOTS a play about the isolation of struggling with your identity and the empowerment which self-acceptance brings. It does so by focusing on characters that are either transgendered; have speech impairments; or are unemployed as they face life defining moments.
There is a preview and launch night on at The Argyle Bar on Thursday July 29th at 6pm, onwards, and then two performances at 6pm on both Monday 9th August and Monday 16th August there will be performances in the basement of The Street.

Research project about older lesbians needs your help

I'm writing to ask for your help in a research project with lesbians over 60, which I am carrying out at the University of Sussex.  I believe this is the first time anyone has attempted to create a comprehensive picture of the older lesbian community in Britain.  The aims of the project are to challenge the social attitudes which have made older lesbians invisible, and to make their voices heard.

More details can be found at  www.womenlikethat.co.uk

It is important that the project reaches as wide a variety of women as possible, so contacts with black and minority ethnic women, women over 75, and those who define as working-class, will be specially welcome.

Can you help?  If you know any lesbian or bisexual women aged 60 or more, please encourage them to take part in the (anonymous and confidential) survey.

The questionnaire can be completed online - there's a link at www.womenlikethat.co.uk - or printed off and posted to the address on the form; or, if for those who do not use computers, a printed copy can be sent by post (a large print version is also available).

PLEASE TELL US YOUR PRIORITIES FOR LGBT EQUALITY

We're close to legal equality, but there's still a long way to go before we have real practical equality. What do you think are the most important areas to change for LGBT equality?

As the Equality Network plans our work over the next few years, we want to know what you think we should prioritise. Please help us by completing our online survey below - it should take less than five minutes and the effects could last for years!

Please forward this email to anyone else you think would be interested.

The survey is here:

Thanks very much for your help!

Government Equalities Office LGBT Research Project exploring experiences of public and political participation

We want to hear from you!

The Office for Public Management (an independent research organisation) has been commissioned by the GEO to speak to LGB and T people about their experiences of public and political participation. We are currently conducting telephone interviews with people from all over the UK, the interviews last around 30 minutes and are a great opportunity for you to voice your experiences of public and political participation (or lack of) - whether you are politically active or not! All participants will be offered £20 as a thank you for their time.

We would be grateful if you could take a look at our website www.opm.co.uk/lgbt and register for an interview if you are happy to take part.
